Tarkenton works with B2B enterprise partners by delivering technology, branding, marketing, and training services. One of their offerings includes Upnetic, which you’ve seen in other parts of my portfolio.

Problem
Due to Tarkenton being an umbrella for multiple offerings, it can be difficult for employees to communicate across products. There are multiple email domains, different Slack workspaces, and just a general confusion about which employee belongs to which offering. Finding the contact information for someone across the company was unnecessarily hard.
Solution
After seeing this problem employees were facing, I took it upon myself to design a human resources directory that would allow users to search for any employee and find their preferred contact information.

My primary goals were to:

Make finding someone’s contact information as simple as possible

Allow employees to provide parameters in which they wanted to be contacted

Prominently display which department/product each employee belongs to

Enrich company culture with employee bios
Wireframes
I started by wireframing the general approach for the directory and presented it to my team.
Mockups
When I got into high fidelity mockups, my first priority was to make the search as simple as possible. I wanted users to very easily find the information they were looking for. I also wanted to allow users to favorite other cross company employees that they find themselves working with often.
Conclusion
My vision for this was to use React Native so that it would be simple for our engineers to maintain on one mobile app. Unfortunately, because of feature work, this app idea has been put on the backburner. We have a small engineering team at Tarkenton and do not currently have the bandwidth to build this. It’s still a passion of mine so I hope that it will someday come to fruition.
Despite this not becoming a reality, I learned a lot about mobile design and capabilities. I mostly work on our Upnetic webapp and do not have a ton of opportunities to do mobile. I spent a lot of time on discovery, looking at how other mobile apps were designed.
